Ambulance Services

Arkansas Methodist Medical Center Ambulance Service is a 24 hours a day/7 days a week/365 days a year. We provide ambulance services to Paragould and Rector. All EMTs and Paramedics are State Licensed and/or National Registered and trained in advanced care for all ages. All Paramedics are trained in advanced courses such as International Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

Critical Care

AMMC's Critical Care Unit (CCU) is a 10-bed unit that provides intensive care and monitoring services to critically ill patients. The CCU is a combined intensive medical, surgical, and cardiac care unit. Patients are admitted to the Critical Care Unit when the physician believes close observation and technically skilled support are necessary. This requires a unique blend of sophisticated equipment, specially trained nurses and other healthcare professionals.

Education

• Diabetes Care
  Arkansas Methodist Medical Center operates a Diabetes Care Clinic to assist patients in managing diabetes and to educate the public about its causes, symptoms and risk factors. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., with patients receiving referrals from their physicians for an appointment. We also offer assistance and education through our Diabetes Self-Management Classes and our Community Diabetes Events. 

• Health Screenings
  Arkansas Methodist Medical Center hosts health fairs to offer medical screenings that offer people a chance to detect possible health concerns before they become a problem.

• CPR
  AMMC is a community training center for the American Heart Association.  CPR classes for health care providers, advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) are available.  We also provide the Neonatal Resuscitation Program.

• Health Fairs
  Arkansas Methodist Medical Center hosts health fairs to businesses, schools, churches or industry.  We offer a variety of medical screenings that detect possible health concerns.

• Patient Education
  We provide inpatient and outpatient education on an individual basis. 

• Community Education
  Each year, the AMMC Education Department holds the M*A*S*H Program. M*A*S*H*, or Medical Applications of Science for Health, is a two-week summer camp that introduces high school students who are currently in the 10th or 11th grade to health careers. Students selected into the M*A*S*H* program will shadow in a variety of health care locations, learn medical terminology, and take part in hands on activities to learn medical procedures. Students also take part in team building activities, heart dissection and suturing, proper wrapping techniques and casting, as well as learning about a variety of health careers and education levels needed for different careers.

Effective November 21, 2023, Dr. Mathieu Forgues will be leaving AMMC ENT Clinic and relocating his practice to the Atlanta, Georgia area. As a result, AMMC ENT Clinic is no longer able to accept new patients and will be closing as of the effective date.

Emergency Trauma

The Emergency Services Department at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center offers a 24-hour service to the area and is often the first experience an individual may have with AMMC. All of our professionals working in the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center Emergency Services Department are highly trained and experienced at providing emergency care and provide 24-hour physician coverage. The Arkansas Department of Health recognizes Arkansas Methodist Medical Center as a Level IV Trauma Center.

• AR SAVES
  Stroke Assistance through Virtual Emergency Support (AR SAVES) works with 48 partnering sites throughout Arkansas to provide 24/7 consult coverage and support for Arkansans experiencing strokes. Through AR SAVES, patients can receive a life-saving medication that lessens the impact of a stroke.

Diabetes Care Clinic

Arkansas Methodist Medical Center operates a Diabetes Care Clinic to assist patients in managing diabetes and to educate the public about its causes, symptoms and risk factors. Cardiac Rehab
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center focuses on individuals who have heart disease or who are at high risk for developing heart disease. With your physician's referral, the cardiac rehabilitation team will establish a personalized program tailored to meet each patient's cardiac rehabilitation needs and capabilities.

Pulmonary Rehab

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center is a medically-supervised program that incorporates education and exercise to help patients with chronic (long-term) lung disease, such as asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, or pulmonary hypertension. With your physician's referral, the pulmonary rehabilitation team will establish a personalized program tailored to meet each patient's pulmonary rehabilitation needs and capabilities.

Heart & Vascular
The Heart Catheterization Lab and Vascular Imaging Lab at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center incorporate the latest state-of-the-art medical technology.

Arkansas Methodist Medical Center (AMMC) Cardiac Cath Lab recently installed the most up-to-date Siemens Artis Q Angiography System that produces precise images and a patient experience that is faster and more comfortable.  This system is visionary in performance and uses interventional imaging that is a breakthrough in X-ray and detection.  The Artis Q provides high contrast resolution imaging and allows the Cardiac Cath Lab team to provide effective, quality care to all patients. 

Home Health

The Arkansas Methodist Medical Center Home Health Agency provides skilled nursing, physical therapy, speech therapy, home health aide services, and medical social services to individuals of all ages in Greene and Clay counties. We also provide lifeline, homemaker and personal care services. We accept Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, and private pay. Our home health agency was the first hospital-based program in a five-state area and is one of the top providers of home health in the nation.

Leqembi (Lecanemab) Treatment for Alzheimer’s Disease: An Informative Overview

Introducing Leqembi (Lecanemab), a FDA approved medication specifically designed to address the cognitive and functional decline associated with Alzheimer's disease. Unlike previous therapies, Leqembi not only addresses the symptoms but also slows down the progression of the disease itself, ultimately leading to an improved quality of life for both patients and their caregivers.

How Leqembi Works

Leqembi is an antibody therapy that focuses on targeting the amyloid beta protein, a factor linked to the formation of plaques in the brains of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease. By selectively binding to and clearing amyloid plaques from the brain, Leqembi effectively slows down the progression of symptoms in individuals in the earliest stages of the disease. It is important to note that Leqembi does not completely halt or reverse Alzheimer's disease.

While Leqembi represent a significant step forward, it should not overshadow the importance of early detection and preventative measures. Incorporating healthy lifestyle choices, such as regular exercise, a balanced diet, and mental stimulation, can help reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s. Regular visits with a primary care provider are important. Diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, and heart disease are some factors well known to increase the risk of Alzheimer’s dementia.

Appropriate Candidates for Leqembi

Leqembi is intended for individuals in the earliest symptomatic stages of Alzheimer's disease who have confirmed brain amyloid beta plaques. Our experienced neurology team conducts a comprehensive evaluation, reviewing medical history and confirming the presence of the amyloid protein, to determine eligibility for Leqembi treatment.

Leqembi Administration

Leqembi is administered through infusion and all Leqembi infusions will be provided on an outpatient basis at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
