7/19/22 - Arkansas Methodist Medical Center (AMMC) has named Carol Staggs as 2021 Employee of the Year, and Amanda Holmes as 2021 Manager of the Year.  Jerry Hill received the GEM (Going the Extra Mile) award from the AMMC Foundation. These awards are the highest honors bestowed on a hospital employee each year. These individuals were chosen from among 700 employees for the honor.

Employee and Manager of the Year are nominated for the award by their hospital peers, based on setting the standard for excellence by exemplifying AMMC’s four pillars – People, Service, Quality and Growth.  The GEM award is presented to an AMMC employee who provides time, talent and leadership and will “Go the Extra Mile” to further the mission and exceed goals of the AMMC Foundation.

Carol Staggs has worked for AMMC for almost 47 years and began her career as a Candy Striper.  When a position opened for on-the-job training as a Histotechnician she applied and was accepted for the position.  She has stayed in the Pathology Lab since and currently holds the position of Histology Supervisor.  When asked what she loves the most about serving patients in Northeast Arkansas, she said so many of our patients are people we know and we treat them like family.  She wants to make patients and visitors feel comfortable and welcomed.

Amanda Holmes has worked for AMMC for 23 years.  She holds the position of Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, Director of Case Management and Clinical Documentation Integrity.  Amanda wanted a meaningful career that would allow her to serve her community and family, and her nursing career at AMMC has given her that opportunity.  She finds deep gratification in helping patients and their families during times of illness.

Jerry Hill began his career at AMMC as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department in 2001.  In 2015 he moved to the Operating Department as a Surgery Registered Nurse and is currently in that department.  Jerry cares about the programs and services at AMMC and has been supportive of the employee GIVE and Benevolence programs.

“AMMC is fortunate to have such outstanding staff that works hard to keep our community healthy, while making it their mission to make our patients, visitors and employees feel like family.” said Barry Davis, President and CEO of AMMC.
